Older Fulton Market building could see new life as distillery and brewery

According to a report, the former truck rental facility has been tapped for adaptive reuse

While food distributors may be cashing-out of Chicago’s Fulton Market District quicker than ever before, at least one business is eyeing the hot West Loop neighborhood for new craft manufacturing. According to the Chicago Tribune, plans are afoot to adapt an older building at the intersection of Kinzie and Green into a new facility for Blind Pig Distilling—an entity owned by Marc Bushala of MAB Capital Management.

The 15,000-square-foot brick structure—which was previously occupied by a rental truck business—perfectly lends itself to manufacturing and offers a high degree of visibility, Bushala tells the Trib. In addition to distilling spirits, the facility is also expected to house a yet-to-be-named craft brewery.

Situated steps from a proposed 373-unit residential tower and $200 million worth of new office space at the former Coyne College campus, the property also offers a 16,000-square-foot parking lot which could potentially provide an option for future expansion if need.
