Demolition work on the old Children’s Memorial Hospital in Lincoln Park began earlier in the summer, and much of the old campus is now a pile a rubble. Most recently, the two-story 1914 terracotta-clad building that occupied the southeast corner of Lincoln and Fullerton was demolished by wrecking crews.

In the planning stages since 2011, the new six-acre development from McCaffery Interests and Hines is slated to contain 540 rental apartments, 60 for-sale condos, 160,000 square feet of retail, and a 156-room senior housing facility in the form of two high-rises and a sprawling low-rise complex. The existing 1,044-stall parking garage is expected to remain.

Photographer and urban explorer Nitram242 dropped these images in the Curbed Chicago Flickr pool showing the hospital’s final days. Here’s one last look at the old campus.
