Developer proposes new retail for busy Lincoln Park corner

An existing retail complex may be demolished to make way for a bigger one

Commercial real estate developer and broker Acadia Realty Properties is looking to make some changes at the busy Clark and Diversey intersection. The plan is to demolish a collection of buildings at the corner to make room for a larger two-story retail complex that will wrap around on both the Clark and Diversey sides. According to Chicago Cityscape, the plan would bolster the total commercial space from from 19,000 to 30,000 square feet.

The plan was presented last night at a meeting co-hosted by Alderman Michele Smith (43rd) and the Park West Community Association. According to DNAinfo, the new complex would house up to six retail tenants, with the anchor taking up much of the first level. The developers also plan to add a Divvy station outside of the new development, should the proposal move forward.
