Alderman Joe Moreno will host a meeting this evening to discuss the proposal

This evening, Logan Square residents will meet to discuss the new John Pennycuff Memorial Apartments at Robert Castillo Plaza proposal for Milwaukee Avenue in Logan Square. First unveiled by Alderman Proco Joe Moreno in May, the plan proposes bringing 88 units of LGBT-friendly affordable housing to the quickly changing neighborhood.

The seven-story mid-rise is planned for what is currently a surface parking lot at 2031 N. Milwaukee Avenue. When the project was announced in May, the alderman indicated that TIF revenue and CHA funds would be utilized to build the project. According to DNAinfo, the community members of the Greater Goethe Neighborhood Association have expressed concern regarding the buildings height and massing, although they favor the plan for affordable housing at the site.

Tonight’s meeting to discuss the proposed John Pennycuff Memorial Apartments at Robert Castillo Plaza will be held at the Concord Music Hall (2047 N. Milwaukee Avenue) and will start at 6:30 p.m.
