The 287-key Conrad Chicago hotel in the former Draft (formerly DraftFCB) offices near the Magnificent Mile will officially open on Monday. The hotel comes from developer Laurence Geller who has previously stated that he is looking beyond current trends to build something that may have more staying power. And no doubt, the hotel opens at a time when there are more hotels (and competition) in downtown Chicago than ever before.
The hotel’s interior design comes from Pierre-Yves Rochon, a French firm that has worked on numerous high-profile hospitality projects. Beyond hotel rooms, the Conrad Chicago will feature 10,000-square-feet of space for conference rooms and event spaces. In addition, the hotel will three restaurant concepts from Richard Sandoval, including a 20th-floor restaurant and whiskey bar called Baptiste & Bottle.
