To make it even more clear that summer is in the rearview mirror, this week the city announced the season’s opening and closing dates for ice skating at Millennium Park. The McCormick Tribune Ice Rink will officially welcome ice skaters back on Friday, November 18 (although there is a disclaimer suggesting that so long as weather permits it). Ice skating will continue through the new year and officially come to a close on Sunday, March 5, 2017. Skating is free to the public, but skate rentals will cost $12. This year marks the 16th season of skating at Millennium Park, an annual activity that has now become a tradition for downtown Chicago. According to the city, the McCormick Tribune Ice Rink receives over 100,000 visitors each season.
