This listing is a great example of how a condo-dweller can take a unit that would otherwise be pretty plain and make it interesting. First off, there's the views. It's a corner unit on South Michigan Avenue, so you've actually got something to look at other than a neighboring building. But secondly, there's the actual space itself. It's not quite a loft, but it's not exactly your normal condo either. It's somewhere in between. And without the colorful furniture and baby grand piano in the corner, it would be otherwise very vanilla looking. The listing agent says that the unit belongs to a "lifelong architect," so that could explain why the place has an interesting flavor to it. The unit comes with a heated garage parking space, but be prepared to cut a $850 check to the building (in addition to your mortgage) every month. It's just hit the market with a $550,000 price tag.
