Booming South Loop Neighborhood to Add New Retail Complex

While the South Loop's Roosevelt Road has traditionally been a strong retail axis, the success of recent shopping centers along Canal, such as The Maxwell and Southgate malls, has clearly caught the attention of developers. As a strong South Loop market continues to add density and affluent residents, retail growth is keeping pace and spreading westward as new shopping opportunities are being explored on the many empty or underused parcels along Clinton and Jefferson. One such project is a new 120,000 square-foot boutique shopping center on its way to the northeast corner of Jefferson and Taylor Street.

The new shopping development will be four stories tall and accommodate as many as ten retailers. Leasing is being handled by multinational commercial real estate giant Newmark Grubb Knight Frank and, while no tenants have been officially announced, a representative confirmed to DNAinfo that the firm is currently pursuing multiple deals with potential restaurants and a furniture store. Though parking information has not been revealed it's probably safe to assume that it will be as ample as in other neighboring developments. Construction will start as early as March of this year with a targeted delivery date of Spring 2017.
