A new video on Youtube claims to feature some of the oldest motion footage of Chicago ever recorded. Produced by Yestervid, the compilation video includes footage from various sources, including British Movietone, Thomas A. Edison, Inc., British Pathé and others. It also appears that some found footage from unknown sources has ended up in the mix, revealing life in Chicago from many decades ago. According to the video description, the video's producers believe that a clip of a police parade from 1896 is the oldest known motion film of Chicago known to exist. To make things easy for the viewer, the producers included a map that shows where each film clip was recorded. The old time jazz and orchestral soundtrack is fitting as well. Take a break and check out some of the oldest pictures of Chicago out there.
