A pair of bright murals will soon take over two underpasses on Kimball Avenue near Northeastern Illinois University's Avondale campus. The artworks designed by area mural artist Nick Goettling will match nicely with the university's new blue and yellow El Centro campus building designed by Juan Gabriel Moreno. According to NEIU, the project will utilize iconic images of labor "to communicate a peoples' history." The project is cosponsored by the National Museum of Mexican Art and the Puerto Rican Arts Alliance and is expected to be completed by the end of October.
