Despite all of the trouble that Corgi Beach Day organizers had with the over-promotion of their events this summer, Montrose Beach was indeed taken over by the stubby-legged canines over the weekend. The first event planned for June 7th was canceled due to too many RSVPs on Facebook, as thousands of people had joined the Corgi Beach Day event page. Organizers became concerned for their pets and canceled the event in June because the event was "way too large and becoming a safety issue." Organizers had the same issue for the Corgi Beach Day planned for this month, as thousands of people RSVP'd for the event on Facebook. The event page was deleted but Chicago-area Corgi owners still met up over the weekend to allow their pets to frolic and enjoy the beach one last time before autumn weather sets in.
