Mapping Chicago Neighborhoods By Their Landmark Buildings

New, 21 comments

Here's a new and interesting take on the ubiquitous Chicago neighborhood map. Local illustrator and Chicago architecture buff Phil Thompson has come up with a neat map that highlights neighborhood landmarks. Many neighborhoods have a building, a public monument or some other interesting architectural feature that are truly unique to that particular area and these landmarks often come to mind when thinking of the city's many different neighborhoods. From the old Edgewater Beach Hotel in Edgewater to the Puerto Rican flag-themed arches in Humboldt Park to the landmark Pullman clock tower in the Pullman neighborhood, it's fun to explore the city's neighborhoods by their most notable buildings and structures. Phil also wanted to note that the map was commissioned by Artist Frame Service on Clybourn, where prints of the map can also be purchased.
