One more downtown surface lot may bite the dust and make way for a new residential tower. In an email to constituents sent last week, Alderman Brendan Reilly offered a few details of the project. According to the announcement, Illinois Franklin LLC wants to build a 23-story tower at the southwest corner of Illinois and Franklin in River North and the part of the neighboring Assumption Church lot would also be included in the plan. It's not been stated whether the tower will be apartments or condos, but the announcement does mention that the plan includes 108 parking spaces. According to a new report from Crain's, developer John Buck is behind the plan. Buck is currently constructing a new apartment tower at 200 N. Michigan Avenue called MILA. Buck and Ald. Reilly will offer more details about the tower plan at a meeting at the Gino's East at 500 North LaSalle on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 starting at 6:00 pm.
