Apparently There's a Clone of Cloud Gate Somewhere in China

New, 5 comments

It's become an icon and an inseparable part of Chicago's identity—we're talking about the Cloud Gate sculpture at Millennium Park, also known to locals as The Bean. Designed by Anish Kapoor, the sculpture has greeted a countless number of tourists since the park first opened back in 2004. However, on the other side of the world, a Bean clone has been uncovered in the Chinese city of Karamay, the Tribune's Blair Kamin reports. While it definitely does look like the Bean we're all familiar with, this one sports some LED lighting on its underbelly. According to the Tribune, Kapoor has called the Chinese knockoff a "blatant plagiarism" and has expressed intentions to file a suit against those responsible.
