Studio Gang Designed Boathouse on Its Way to Bridgeport

New, 10 comments

On Sunday, the city officially broke ground on the upcoming boat house at 2800 S. Eleanor Street in the Bridgeport neighborhood. The boathouse project will feature a series of four structures along the riverfront and is the second of its kind in Chicago designed by Studio Gang Architects. Estimated to cost $5.7 million, the new facility will include a floating boat launch dock and a large storage space for kayaks and racing shells. And similar to its sibling on the North Side, the WMS Boathouse at Clark Park, the new Bridgeport facility will feature a striking design that is intended to conjure images of waves and water. The project is expected to be completed by next summer.
