Construction Ready to Begin on One of Chicago's Priciest Condo Towers

New, 43 comments

One of Chicago's priciest condo developments is ready to begin construction in the Gold Coast. JDL Development's ultra-lux No. 9 Walton tower has just been issued a building permit by the city to begin work on the building's foundation and first floor. Designed by Chicago's Hartshorne Plunkard Architecture (HPA), the stone-clad tower will stand at 35 stories and contain just 66 condo units. According to JDL, who calls the project "the first 'six star' condominium community in Chicago," the average size of a unit is 4,000 square feet and the interiors of the units will be decked out in high-end finishes. Just for reference, there are a handful of units currently available on the MLS, with prices ranging from $1.95 million for a seventh-floor two bedroom, two bathroom residence all the way up to $12.5 million for a full-floor unit near the top of the tower. Work on the new luxury tower is just beginning and JDL is targeting summer 2017 for completion and delivery.
