The CTA's Purple Line which services the Loop, North Side and north suburban Evanston is about to receive some major updates. Similar to the ongoing renovations of the Red Line and Blue Line, the Purple Line will receive $30 million to repair tracks and eliminate slow zones. The money for the project was awarded last year, but now the CTA is ready to move forward with the renovations. According to the CTA, the transit line received more than 13,000 commuters per day. Now that long trip from Evanston will become just a little less frustrating.
