Short Film Highlights Quirky Magic Shop in Lincoln Square

If you've ever passed through Lincoln Square while riding your bike or driving down Western Avenue, you might have noticed a bright red retail space near the corner of Argyle and Western. In The Amazing Mr. Ash, filmmaker Brian Gersten tells the story of the quirky store and its owner, Ashod Baboorian. An Iraqi-Armenian emigrant, Baboorian opened Ash's Magic Shop in 1985, and today it remains one of the few brick and mortar stores in Chicago for magicians and fans of magic. Viewers discover that Baboorian is a bit of an oddball, but also hilarious and uniquely Chicago.
