One more downtown hotel is about to take on a major renovation project. The Millennium Knickerbocker Hotel off of the Magnificent Mile will soon update its common spaces. The building, which neighbors Chicago's famous Drake Hotel and Palmolive Building, dates back to the 1920s but will be transformed by interior design firm Indidesign. While the renovation won't be as extensive as the ones seen at the new Chicago Athletic Association Hotel, Hampton Inn or Freehand Hostel, the Millennium Knickerbocker's lobby, lounge, bar and restaurant will all be updated. However, similar to some other downtown hotel projects, the Millennium Knickerbocker's design team is looking back to the 1920s and 1930s for inspiration. The hotel expects to have the renovation completed sometime later this year or early 2016.
