Church to Single Family Home Conversion Near 606 Asks $849K

New, 5 comments

Located just one block away from the Bloomingdale Trail, this old church on Cortland Street just south of Palmer Square has been converted into a really cool three bedroom single family home. The Logan Square neighborhood has a vast inventory of vacant and decaying churches, but this one has been saved and can be had for $849,000. The interior features exposed brick walls, tall windows and an open, airy cathedral-style ceiling. The organ loft no longer features tall brass pipes, instead it's been transformed into a cozy little library area. On the exterior, this former place of worship has been painted black (or rather slate gray) and includes a small, manicured lawn and a detached garage. While it may not be your typical single family home, it's definitely got some character and the homeowners should be applauded for repurposing this old piece of neighborhood history.
