New Ravenswood Metra Station to Finally Open Next Monday

New, 16 comments

Good news for Ravenswoodians (if that's what you call them)—the Ravenswood Metra Station will finally be open for business next Monday, May 11th, the Edgewater Glen Daily reports. Though the station's construction was part of a Metra/Union Pacific project, which is also replacing 22 bridges between Balmoral Avenue and Grace Street, its completion complements the Lawrence Avenue Streetscape project, which has also been showing positive impact along Ravenswood's previously bloated thoroughfare.

According to Metra, the Ravenswood Station is the busiest stop along its Union Pacific North line, and with a recently opened Mariano's and the 150-unit Ravenswood Terrace apartments adjacent to the station, usage numbers will continue to climb. Track and bridge work is still ongoing on the line, but with the station re-opening for business, it's sure to ease headaches and commutes.
