The new 310 unit apartment tower coming to Chestnut Street near the former Cabrini-Green site will formally break ground on June 9. Developed by Fifield Companies and designed by Pappageorge Haymes, the new tower will stand at 28 stories once it is completed. Similar to other downtown projects, the new tower will feature studios, one-, two- and three bedroom apartments and a number of luxury amenities, including an outdoor pool, sundeck, fitness center and yoga studio. Originally badged as Avant, the development recently took a new name: NEXT in NoCA (with NoCA meaning north of Chicago Avenue). While the tower won't break ground for a couple more weeks, Fifield Companies received a construction permit for the project in early April. Work has likely already started on the tower but construction won't kick into high gear until the folks in suits, hard hats and shovels get their photos taken.
