Two weeks ago, developer R2 Companies (formerly South Street Capital) announced intentions to transform an existing warehouse on Goose Island into a new commercial complex, and today the company has offered a look at how the project may eventually look. Unlike the pair of projects announced last year that received designs from Hartshorne Plunkard Architecture (HPA), R2's in-house design team (R2DB) will remake the facility at 1200 N. North Branch. According to R2's Matt Garrison, the idea is to bring in one or two anchor tenants who can lease the majority of the facility and utilize it for offices, a distribution center, or a combination of both. However, there's also a chance that the warehouse could be leveled and a new development would be designed from the ground up if a big name tenant expresses interest. For now, this is an idea of what the 85,000 square foot complex could look like.
