Pricey New Row Homes Coming to Prairie District Next Year

New, 1 comment

In the spirit of preserving the high-end history of Chicago's Prairie District, which has lately been experiencing a minor building boom, construction is now underway for Calumet Row, a collection of seven luxury row homes at 1834-1940 S Calumet Avenue, DNAinfo reports. The seven homes, which will range from 3,400 to 4,600 square feet—at prices from around $1.1 million to $1.7 million—will have brick and stone exteriors to match the neighborhood aesthetic and are expected to be completed by summer 2016.

Single-family residences in the South Loop with such ample square footage are a rare commodity, which is exactly what site developer Harbor Side LLC plans to correct with Calumet Row. Each residence will feature open living and dining rooms, ample crown molding, oak hardwood flooring, 9- to 11-foot ceilings, fireplaces, attached two-car garages, landscaped and irrigated courtyards, pre-wiring for audio and video home automation, and myriad other features, listed here. The residences at 1836, 1838, and 1840 S Calumet will also feature multiple private terraces, five bedrooms, and other customizations suited to the Prairie District's low-density, high-end environs.
