A new apartment tower near the former Cabrini-Green site is ready to start moving dirt, but before it officially breaks ground, the 28 story development decided it wanted to make a wardrobe change and take a new name. Earlier this week the Pappageorge Haymes-designed tower received the official nod from the city to get started on construction at 347 W Chestnut Street, and once completed, the development will deliver 310 apartments to the area. However, developer Fifield Companies has dropped the "Avant" moniker and renamed the project NEXT at NoCA (NoCA being an abbreviation for north of Chicago Avenue). A website for the project with Avant branding has also been killed, and Pappageorge Haymes has sent us the latest and greatest rendering for the project. In addition to its residential component, the project will contain about 6,000 square feet of ground floor retail. Once completed, GroShos (short for grocery shoppers) will be able to carry around their mochas (short for caffè mocha) to their residence in RiNo's (short for River North) new NEXT at NoCA tower.
