Have you spotted a public notice or a construction crew in your neighborhood? Have a question about something you stumbled upon? Our tip line is open 24/7.

The recently confirmed Viceroy Hotel may still be a couple of years away, but one more highrise hotel project is on its way to joining the downtown. Earlier today, multiple readers spotted heavy equipment at 108 N. Jefferson, indicating that the dual-flag hotel tower planned for the location is about to begin its climb into the sky. Designed by VOA Associates, the plan calls for a 23 story tower that will feature 128 rooms under the Homewood Suites flag and 210 rooms as a Hampton Inn. As first reported by the Chicago Architecture Blog last summer, the hotel plan did not seek rezoning, thus allowing it to move forward at a much quicker pace than projects that need to go through the formal community meeting and City Council approval process.
