Edward Humrich Designed Modernist Ranch Home Asks $625K

New, 1 comment

The North Shore suburb of Wilmette has no shortage of large, pricey mansions, but it's also got a solid inventory of historic, architectural homes as well. Take this home designed by Edward Humrich and built in 1956 for example. The short, flat home borrows some cues from the Prairie School style, but blends it into an unmistakably mid-century modern design. And similar to many homes built in the Prairie style, this home has a wall of windows that meets a lovely backyard and patio space. The design is no mistake, as Humrich once said that "a house should be like an outcropping of the land, a rock formation, to belong to the site." This earthy three bedroom, two and a half bathroom modernist gem can be had for $625,000.
