A First Look at River North's New Jones Chicago Apartments

New, 16 comments

In a way, the story behind the 188 unit Jones Chicago apartment tower in River North is very reflective of the city's real estate boom and bust, and after a several year effort to be built, the residential tower finally opened late last year. Developed by Gerding Edlen and Fred Latsko of Structured Management and designed by Hartshorne Plunkard Architects, the 25 story development joins an increasingly crowded cast of downtown residential towers competing to win the dollars of Chicago's renters. Badging itself as a luxury apartment development, Jones offers units that have a raw, loft-like feel to them. There's also a spread of amenities that include a covered dog run, a fitness center, an outdoor terrace space with a pool and a rooftop lounge with a chef's kitchen and billiards. And similar to other new, higher end apartment towers, rents at the Jones aren't exactly cheap. Studios start at $1,825 while a one bedroom with a den will set one back $2,675 per month.
