The move by owners of three north-side single-room occupancy hotels (SROs) to sell their properties is shaping up to be an early test of the city's new affordable housing legislation. If not-for-profit developers can't negotiate deals to purchase and maintain these buildings as affordable housing over the next six months, all three will be placed on the open market. [Sun-Times]
