To many Chicagoans, the old water towers that dot the city's skyline are as much of a part of the city's architectural character as the Sears Tower. However, many of the aging structures face uncertain futures as the Commission on Chicago Landmarks has ruled that unless a particular tower has a historic designation, they can be removed.
