George Maher-Designed Prairie Schooler Returns to Market

George Maher's Charles R. Erwin House in Oak Park has returned to the market after a three year absence. Located within the Frank Lloyd Wright-Prairie School of Architecture Historic District in Oak Park, the house was constructed in 1905, a period when many other homes from noted Prairie School architects were being built in the suburb. In addition to its heavy influences, the house also borrows from the American Craftsman movement. The house was renovated in 2004, receiving a new kitchen and new bathrooms. The main atrium and living room space still look like something from the Prairie School era however. The house previously belonged to Channel 5 news anchor Zoraida Sambolin, but has returned to the market once again. It last sold in June 2012 for $1.34 million but is now seeking $1.575 million.
