395-Room Hotel Planned for Former MCA Space in Streeterville

New, 28 comments

While the flood of new hotel proposals has slowed to a trickle in the last several months, developers haven't stopped planning new hotel rooms for the downtown area. According to a notice from Alderman Brendan Reilly's office, developer Tishman Realty is looking to plant a new 24-story, 395-room hotel at 237 E. Ontario Street in the Streeterville neighborhood. The property was previously occupied by the Museum of Contemporary Art, but has been vacant for at least the last several years. Alderman Reilly notes that Tishman Realty plans to make some streetscape and infrastructure improvements. In addition, the developer has indicated that it will contribute to the redevelopment of Ogden Plaza. The developer will prevent the proposal next Tuesday, December 8 at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel ballroom starting at 6:00 p.m.
