After recently receiving a permit, construction workers are already beginning the task of filling the void between the old London Guarantee Building and its neighbor the with a new slender glass addition designed by Goettsch Partners. The 21 story Beaux Arts landmark designed by Alfred Alschuler is currently being transformed into a boutique hotel with 450 rooms. The building will also feature two levels of retail space, along with offices and meeting rooms. Once completed, the building will join a slew of other historic office buildings that are getting a new lease on life as hotels.
