Proposed Chicago Surf Plan Scores Park District Contract

New, 6 comments

A surf park proposed for Montrose Beach could soon become a reality. Dubbed Chicago Surf, the plan calls for a new park with a cafe, a 7,500 square foot patio and a 46 foot long wave machine for stationary surfing. Last night, the Chicago Park District confirmed that it has entered a concession agreement with entrepreneur and Surf Chicago founder K.C. Hoos, the Tribune is reporting. The wave machine is capable of producing different types of waves, with varying intensity and size. Hoos, who is also running a Kickstarter campaign for the project, wants to bring the surf park to Montrose Beach by May 2015.
