After a four year long effort, the new Logan Square Dog Park will finally become a reality for dog owners of the northwest side neighborhood. The city had previously approved the plan for the park, but last week, the city issued a permit to begin construction of the dog park at 2529 W Logan Boulevard, next to 90/94. According to the plan coordinated by the dog park organizers and designed by landscape architects Upland Design Group, the park will have a couple dozen new trees, a paved dog run, an exercise ramp, water fountains and sitting areas for dog owners. Logan Square, which is one of the most densely populated neighborhoods in the city, has been long known for being one of the neighborhoods with the least amount of park space. The city has been working hard over the last few years to change this, and soon the new 606 trail, the dog park, and potentially a new orchard and plaza will contribute to the area's total amount of much needed green space.
