Block 37 Apartments Confirmed: 694 Units Coming to the Loop

New, 12 comments

It's official: Block 37's long awaited apartment tower is coming - and it will be the biggest apartment tower built in the Loop in decades, Crain's reports. Designed by local architects Solomon Cordwell Buenz (SCB), the tall glassy structure will bring nearly 700 new apartment units to the heart of the Loop. Standing at 34 stories, the new tower will sit on top of the Block 37 shopping center on State Street. A preliminary rendering was spotted back in July, and the new rendering appears to match up exactly. No word just yet on amenities and features, but considering that all of the other recently completed apartment towers in the Loop are fully loaded, it would be fair to expect the same at Block 37. CIM Group scooped up Block 37 nearly two years ago, and has already secured the initial permits needed to move forward with the tower. The Loop's apartment boom cannot be stopped, and with 694 new apartments coming to State Street, the Loop is poised to continue its exponential residential growth in the coming years.
