Village Leadership Academy Proposes New Campus; SAIC to Join Two Buildings; More

UNIVERSITY VILLAGE - The Village Leadership Academy is looking to build a new $40 million-$60 million campus in the Illinois Medical District. Currently located in the South Loop, the PreK-8 private school's new campus would be situated on about four acres of land in the medical district, and would include athletic fields, an auditorium, media center and a day care center. The school will present its plan to the Illinois Medical District Commission on August 19. [Crain's]

THE LOOP - The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) will be connecting two buildings in its Loop campus to expand its student affairs department. The 14th floor walls between 112 S. Michigan Ave. and 116. S. Michigan Ave. will be demo'ed and a new space with student lounge seating will be created. [Chi Arch Blog]

NORWOOD PARK - After receiving approval last year to move forward with its new annex, Oriole Park Elementary has obtained a construction permit from the city to begin construction of the $15 million addition which will feature a new lunch room with food preparation area, 17 classrooms, bathrooms and offices. LINCOLN PARK - The private Francis W. Parker School has paid $1.38 million for a three story building on Clark Street next to its campus. [Chicago Tribune]
