Architect Julia Morgan—the first woman licensed to practice architecture in California—spent much of her life on the move, responsible for over 700 buildings designed by her firm's San Francisco office. Among those buildings were houses and leisure spaces for women, including YWCA chapters from Salt Lake City to Oakland to Hawaii. Morgan may be best known, though, for her work for the wealthy William Randolph Hearst, particularly for the "most sumptuous swimming pool on earth," the Neptune pool at Hearst Castle. Intrigued?
