River North Condo Lists For A Record-Setting Price

A condo in the River North highrise at 55 East Erie has been listed at a record-setting price per square foot, Crain's Chicago Business reports. The 4,165 square foot, 52nd floor unit was listed for $4.5 million, or $1,082 per square foot, topping the previous record high set by a unit in that same building which sold for $1,036 per square foot. The 3-bedroom unit home has a private balcony and sweeping views of the north shore of the lake, all the way around to Willis Tower to the south. River North was famously the center of a condo-building explosion during the previous construction boom, though it like most of the city has seen a freeze on new condo towers in favor of rental properties. Now, as the economy picks up and downtown living becoming a more and more desirable lifestyle, we might soon see prices on all that River North condominium inventory start inflating more and more, with the record high being updated by the day.
