Checking In on the Construction of the New City Megaproject

New, 14 comments

Though the expected completion of New City is still a year away, major progress is being made on the construction of Structured Development's $260 million residential, retail and office space megaproject. The development's 19 story apartment tower is rapidly rising, and several other structures throughout the 8.5 acre site are also taking shape. Construction of the new development near Clybourn and Halsted began last December, and once completed in September 2015, New City will boast 199 apartments, 360,000 square feet of retail space, 40,000 square feet of office space and a huge parking garage with 1,100 spaces. In June, Structured hinted that 80% of development's commercial space had already been leased, with major retail anchors to include a Mariano's Fresh Market, a Dick's Sporting Goods and an ArcLight movie theater. Other tenants that have signed up for New City include a bowling alley and the restaurants Yard House, Earl's Kitchen & Bar, Good Stuff Eatery and Adobe Gilas.
