Chicago Children's Theatre Planning Move to the West Loop

New, 9 comments

The Chicago Children's Theatre is looking to make a move to the rapidly developing West Loop. Currently located at the Ruth Page Center for the Arts in the Gold Coast, the children's theater is eyeing the old 12th District Chicago Police Station at 100 S. Racine Avenue to be its new home. The 12th District moved into their brand new station at 1412 S. Blue Island Avenue at the end of 2012. According to an announcement from the West Loop Community Organization, the theater company is planning an adaptive reuse of the building that will include a new performance space, classrooms and offices. The Chicago Children's Theatre, which turns 10 years old this year, will present its plan at a community meeting on Tuesday, August 26 from 7-8:30pm at 114 N. Aberdeen Street.
