Developer Related Midwest is currently wrapping up the final pieces of exterior construction on the new OneEleven (111 W. Wacker) tower, however, residents have already begun moving in and calling the new 60 story apartment tower home sweet home. Initially conceived as Waterview Tower, the structure was originally slated to host a hotel and luxury condos, but the project stalled out in 2008. Related scooped up the unfinished property in 2011, and resumed construction of the tower the following year. After years in the making, the storied apartment tower is approaching the home stretch. Today, the 60 story Handel Architects designed tower contains 504 residences, 470 total parking spaces, about 30,000 square feet of amenity space and 32,000 feet of retail space. Designer Kara Mann was tapped to lead the building's interior design, and the tower's common spaces flaunt her custom lighting fixtures and furnishings.
The LEED Silver tower boasts some pretty impressive amenities, notably the tower's indoor pool that opens into a sprawling outdoor space located on the 28th and 29th floors. The large terrace area sports grills, benches and tables and plenty of places to just lay out and get some sun. OneEleven also includes a fitness center, a billiards room, a theater (or "screening") room, and for dog owners, the building contains both an indoor play area and outdoor dog run.
Don't expect all of this awesome to come cheap though. Rents in the new downtown tower start at just under $2,000 for an available studio space. However, the cost isn't stopping folks from moving in. According to Related reps, over 100 tenants have moved in as of this week. With 504 total units, there will be many more along the way. Let's begin the tour, shall we?
