New, 20 comments

To commemorate the launch and official start of the international design contest for the city's ambitious new Lighting Framework Plan (LFP), Curbed presents a jumbo-sized construction update of the Chicago Riverwalk, which will likely one day become host to a big lighting display. The Riverwalk's $100 million extension will create new pedestrian friendly park spaces, and is expected to host about 2.8 million visitors annually. For now, construction is still well underway and will continue to be for at least the next year and a half. Here are 37 images of the city's Riverwalk receiving its major makeover and being transformed into new park space.
