Tower For 200 N Michigan Receives First Building Permit

With the demolition of a concrete mid-rise building at 200 North Michigan Avenue completed, developer John Buck is ready to begin erecting a sleek 42 41 story glass tower at the site. Simply dubbed 200 N Michigan, the new tower has received a permit to begin foundation work, and workers are getting ready to start digging a giant hole in the earth where the new structure will stand. The bKL Architecture designed tower will aim for a LEED Silver certification and is slated to contain 402 apartment units, with two stories of retail, a green roof and a parking garage. Notable for being the first new apartment tower built on Michigan Avenue in decades, 200 N Michigan is scheduled for an early 2016 opening.
