Mayor Rahm Emanuel is currently considering three options to keep large signs from going up on Chicago highrises, including a ban of signs on river-facing buildings. Other options include creating special "sign districts", limiting buildings to only one sign (which cannot face the Riverwalk), and amending the zoning code for "planned developments" that would allow city regulators to have leverage in a project's characteristics.
