Fun With Urban Planning

The Chicago Department of Transportation has unveiled a new plan to replace the aging viaduct at Western and Belmont with ground-level streets and wide pedestrian-friendly sidewalks. The wide 13 feet sidewalk will also receive benches, bike racks and trees. Construction is expected to begin next spring and the project could be completed as early as 2016. [Streetsblog Chicago]
