The Illinois House has approved a $10 million grant to be put towards the restoration of the shuttered Uptown Theater. The grant represents only a small piece of the $50-$70 million needed to completely overhaul the theater. Elected representatives believe that restoring the theater would help bring new life (and dollars) to the North Side neighborhood. [Chicago Tribune via Uptown Update]
