Two-In-One Hotel Project Headed To The West Loop

New, 11 comments

A dual-flag hotel project is headed for the parking lot at 108 North Jefferson, according to details released in an update from 42nd ward alderman Brendan Reilly. The 23-story, 250 foot tower will contain 128 rooms under the Homewood Suites flag and 210 as Hampton Inn. The Jupiter Realty Company is managing this project with designs by VOA Associates. According to Chicago Architecture Blog, the site wont need a zoning change so development could proceed fairly quickly without the need for review and oversight that comes from projects that need zoning adjustments to allow for more height.

The West Loop is seeing quite a bit of development, though with this property being east of the Kennedy expressway it might be intended to serve the Loop market moreso than the trendy boutique scene emerging on Randolph Street west of the expressway. Similar multi-flag hotel projects are beginning to catch on in the city, with the River North tri-hotel opening last year featuring three brands (Aloft, Fairfield, and Hyatt Place), and the recently-announced Hyatt Place/Hyatt House development on Rush Street.
