Mayor Rahm Emanuel has proposed raising property taxes by $250 million to help Chicago afford pension funds, but the aldermen are hoping for alternatives. It seems the public would prefer a "commuter tax" on suburbanites who work in Chicago and the transaction tax on LaSalle Street exchanges. [Sun Times]
