Pilsen is an incredibly diverse neighborhood, complete with a vibrant art scene. The Lower West Side neighborhood is known for its murals, and in this short video, Pilsen's mural movement is explored. The neighborhood began its love affair with large murals back in the 70s, and today Chicago is considered to produce more murals than any other city in the United States. In a five year period during the 70s, over 200 walls were painted. The video argues that if Chicago is the city that leads with murals, then Pilsen could be the most important neighborhood in the modern mural movement.
